*How to Seek God**Swami Yatiswarananda*Chapter # 7BHAKTI YOGA: LOVE DIVINE AND HUMANPage: 69Turn to the Infinite Source of Love. We have received a drop of that true Love but it becomes adulterated with selfishness. Purify it. Self-love is in everyone. How to sublimate it? Sublimation is the process of purification. Christians call it purgation. That is our life's task. Don't give up self-love ; purify it. Increase your love for God. Then love for others increases automatically.  Mother connects us all. We gradually realize that we are souls, parts of the Infinite Spirit. That was the one great panacea that the Great Ones taught us. Increase this sublime love,  seek it in others, treat one another with dignity. Think of spiritual substance in each one. That is common to all of us and is the real connecting bond. Family love or friends love is all selfish. You know the story in the Gospel: A Guru taught his disciple how to test the love of his wife and mother. Taking some medicine given by the Guru the disciple became inert,  as if he were dead, but could hear all that was being said around him. His mother and wife were crying. But when the Guru, in the guise of the doctor, proposed to bring the 'dead man' back to life, provided the mother or wife would give her own life. The mother said: 'There are my other sons; they will not allow me to die. ' His wife said: 'My children are too young. Who will look after them?  I cannot die. ' That is family love. Not that it is totally false; but it is limited. Know that it is a drop of that Infinite love. Try to connect it with divine love. After your spiritual practice salutes the Lord in your father, mother, relatives, friends and even in those who dislike you. Try to love everybody selflessly. Latu Maharaj (Swami Adbhutananda)  said that just as love cannot be expressed in words,  so also God cannot be described or explained. Only the lover and the beloved know what love is.
