Introduction

Sri Ramakrishna has asked the spiritual aspirants to always ‘Go Forward’.

The journey of spiritual life is endless. But the path is not easy. It is sharp as the razor’s edge. But we need not be afraid. The grace of the Holy Trio and the Guru is always with us. The only thing needed is that – we have to strive sincerely. Then slowly and steadily we will keep ‘going forward’.

Revered Swami Premeshanandaji Maharaj, a disciple of Holy Mother Sarada Devi and a highly respected monk of the Ramakrishna Order, inspired a lot of spiritual aspirants with his words of inspiration, guidance, and caution. He is like a ‘lighthouse’ always showing us our ‘goal’ in the midst of the world.

These selections have been made from the three volumes of ‘Go Forward - Letters of Swami Premeshananda’. The excerpts have been taken only from the letters. Many of the recipients of the letters are Swamis of the Ramakrishna Order known to the readers. This brings a ‘personal touch’ to the reading. The present selection makes the sayings devoid of that touch.

The selection has been divided according to topics that are relevant to spiritual and sangha life. The topics have been arranged alphabetically. Repetitions of the same extract have often occurred due to their inclusion under more than one topic.
