“There is a tradition about Guru-vada in the Ramakrishna Order that has come down to us right from the days of the direct disciples of Sri Ramakrishna, which is that Sri Ramakrishna alone is our everything — he alone is our Chosen Ideal (Ishta Devata), he alone is our Guru, no matter from whosoever individual guru we might have received our spiritual initiation. The Ishta Devata Himself comes in the form of the individual guru to show the disciple the path of God-realisation.”
