As you go closer to God you see less and less of His upadhis, His characteristics. An enthusiast at first may see the Deity as the tem equipped Divine Mother; when he goes closer he sees her has of six arms; still closer, he sees the Deity as the two-furnished Gopala. The closer he goes to the Deity, the less traits he sees. Finally, when he comes into the nearness of the Deity, he sees just Light with no qualities.
