The new-moon night of 5th June 1872, was the auspicious time for the worship of Kali in her aspect as Phalaharini (destroyer of the effects of past deeds). In Sri Ramakrishna’s mind grew the desire of worshipping that night the Mother of the Universe as Shodashi…The Master had asked the Mother to be present at the worship. She entered the room and looked on intently as the worship proceeded…The Master beckoned the Mother to the decorated seat and worshipped her duly with the usual sixteen kinds of the offering. He then offered himself to the Deity; and then laying himself, the fruits of all his disciplines, and his rosary at the feet of the Goddess, he uttered the salutation.
