তা তিনি আসেননি এবং নাকি বলেছিলেন, “তােরা কি আমাকে একটু শান্তিতে মরতেও দিবি না?”

আমার diary-গুলি থেকে ৩০টা বক্তৃতার (From The Diary of a Monk) বিষয় পেয়েছ জেনে আনন্দ হলাে। বিদ্বান, বুদ্ধিমানগণ মধুকর তুল্য। যেকোনাে বস্তু থেকে তাঁরা শিক্ষণীয় বিষয় আহরণ করেন। দৃষ্টান্ত-অবধূত ও তাঁর চব্বিশ গুরু। ঐসব নিয়ে ঘাঁটাঘাঁটি করার সামর্থ্য আমার শরীর ও মনে এখন আর নেই। তােমার কাজে লেগেছে জেনেই আমার আনন্দ। তুমি যা ভাল বােঝ, করাে। এ বৃদ্ধ শরীরে আর আমা-দ্বারা কিছু হওয়ার নয়। আমাকে নিয়ে আর টানাটানি কোরাে না—এই অনুরােধ। আমি তাে ঐ diary-গুলি ফেলেই দেব ভেবেছিলাম। আরাে কতকগুলাে article লেখার উদ্দেশ্যে। synopsis করে রেখেছিলাম। তা পড়ে আছে। আমার এ-দেহের গঙ্গাযাত্রার। পর সেগুলি তুমি নেওয়ার চেষ্টা করতে পার। হয়তাে তােমার কোনাে কাজে লাগতে পারে। তােমরা এখন আমাকে এরূপ আশীর্বাদ করাে যেন তাঁর নাম। ও স্মরণ করতে করতে বাকি দিন ক-টা কেটে যায়। আর আমি কিছু চাই না।

অন্তিমেরই দিনে রামকৃষ্ণ বিনে গতি নেই মন আমার।

রামকৃষ্ণ ভজ রামকৃষ্ণ চিন্ত রামকৃষ্ণ করাে সার।

এমন দয়াল হয় না আর।।

জীবনী লেখার বিষয়ে পূজনীয় গুরুদাস মহারাজের (স্বামী অতুলানন্দ) সঙ্গে কথা হয়েছিল। তিনি যা বলেছিলেন তা নকল করে পাঠালাম। বিষয়টি চিন্তনীয়। একদিন তিনি বলেছিলেন, 'Biographies are all 25% facts, the rest are all exaggerations.' 49517 Atman Alone Abides বই থেকে (p. 145) quote করছি ।

Nobody knows how Sukadeva suffered when he had toothache or stomach pain. Nobody knows how he behaved then. Whoever one may be, no escape from sufferings. I read the Ashtavakra Samhita. It is all right as an ideal. But it is very difficult to live. Of course for a beginner the state described in the book is tempting, it is so inspiring. Such descriptions are all right.

People want to conceal how great men suffered and how sometimes they behaved. People like to hide, to suppress these things. They put a gold leaf over the wound. They write biographies and show only the good things in their lives. In America at one time, people got tired of this sort of writing biographies that were nothing but adulation. Such descriptions were called ‘all bunk' (twaddle). Put the thing flat on the floor, so that one can see the whole of it. Good, bad—both sides should be shown. So in America, people started writing biographies showing the less complementary aspects of the heroes and called it-bunking'
