WHAT IS DUTY?
SWAMI VIVEKANANDA Therefore the one point we should recall is that we ought to dependably attempt to see the obligation of others through their own particular eyes, and never judge the traditions of different people groups by our own standard. I am not the standard of the universe. I need to adjust to the world, and not the world to me. So we see that conditions change the idea of our obligations, and doing the obligation which is our own at a specific time is the best thing we can do in this world. Give us a chance to do that obligation which is our own by birth; and when we have done that, let us do the obligation which is our own by our situation throughout everyday life and in the public arena.
There is, nonetheless, one awesome threat in human instinct, viz that man never inspects himself. He supposes he is very as fit to be on the honored position as the ruler. Regardless of whether he will be, he should initially demonstrate that he has done the obligation of his own position; and afterward higher obligations will come to him. When we start to work sincerely on the planet, nature gives us blows right and left and before long empowers us to discover our position. No man can long involve acceptably a situation for which he isn't fit. There is no utilization in protesting against nature's alteration. He who does the lower work isn't, in this manner, a lower man.
