When Sarada Ma Cured a Devotee’s Illness by Appearing in his Dream

When the Holy Mother Sarada Ma Cured a Devotee's Illness by Appearing in His Dream. 

Holy Mother Sarada Ma is a God-realized sage,

 who bestows her Divine Grace and maternal compassion upon devotees in marvelous ways. 

I am using the present tense to refer to Mother, 

for even though she has long ago given up her physical body, 

she is still present in the subtle realm and showers her Divine Blessings from there, 

upon all those who seek shelter at her feet. 

This particular incident occurred when Mother was still in her physical sheath. 

Now even though Mother was in the physical sheath, 

her devotee Girish Chandra Ghose was nevertheless very far from her. 

For Girish, 

who was a well-known actor and dramatist of Bengal had yet to meet her and Sri Ramakrishna and become their disciple.

even though Girish Ghose did not know the Holy Mother, 

her all-knowing Divine Grace was already silently protecting her future disciple.

 
As Girish Ghose himself recounted to Yogen Maharaj,

 another direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna: Yogen Swami, 
I am myself a living example of the wonderful manifestation of the Holy Mother's blessing. 

Once I fell ill and my condition became serious, 

the doctors gave up all hopes of my recovery.

I used to feel terribly restless owing to the serve pain and other symptoms of my ailment. 

One night I had a strange dream. 

I saw a woman standing in front of me and with motherly affection assuring me of my early recovery from the illness and at the same time offering me a liquid medicine to drink. 

Then the dream ceased and I fell into a deep sleep for a long time. 

• The next morning, 
• strange to say, 
• I felt almost all right. 

My illness had subsided considerably and I was on my way to complete recovery. 

It was a mystery to me then, 

as I was still, 

a stranger to such phenomena, 

having not yet had the privilege of meeting or receiving the blessings of the Master Sri Ramakrishna and the Mother. 

Later on, 

when I visited Jayrambati and saw the Holy Mother, 

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the likeness of the Mother was exactly similar to that of the woman I had seen in my dream. 

I was wonder-struck when it became clear to me that the Mother's affectionate voice and countenance were the same as those of the dream figure that had ministered to me and comforted me during my illness. 

Now I distinctly see that it was the Mother herself who offered me the medicine in the dream and cured me. 

It is her grace that brought me into close contact with the Master, 

Sri Ramakrishna, 

and thereby enabled me to find shelter at his feet. 

this incident is not at all surprising,

because as Mother Mirra,

another God-realized sage has explained,

illnesses typically have their root in the subtle body and they manifest in the physical body after first taking hold in the subtle body. 

So the way yogis cure illnesses are by applying the force of their Will,

the force of their Prana Shakti,

the force of their Divine Consciousness upon the diseased portion of the patient's subtle body and curing the illness there at its source.

When the Holy Mother performed this kind of Yogic cure for Girish Ghose via her own subtle form, 

the process was comprehended by him in his dream state as the mother giving him medicine. 

The dream state is a state where people often come in contact with their subtle bodies. 

So Girish Ghose could see the Mother's subtle action there. 

Now the thing for us devotees to understand is that - the same action can still,

 be performed by Holy Mother, 

for all those who seek refuge at her feet. 

What is worth noting is that when it comes to God-realized sages, 

it matters very little, 

whether they are present in their physical body or not, 

for they are capable of acting with far greater strength through their subtle bodies. 

But in order for us to become recipients of their Divine Grace, 

just like Girish Ghose, the one the thing we must develop is our Patrata, i.e. 

our worthiness and our deservingness to receive this Grace.

• we can do this by becoming better and 
• better human beings, 
• by working hard to reduce our selfishness, 
• our greed, 
• our habit of telling lies, 
• our lust, 
• other ego-driven qualities.
